Dry Bones, Hear the Word of the Lord.

Do you know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple. 1 Corinthians 3:16-17

We tend to look at self-care as a long candlelit bath, sitting in a salon getting hours length mani’s and pedi’s, or better yet, a day spa of facials, massage, and blowouts. But what if I told you that the best self-care before anything else is God’s truth, His word which can give you clarity and stamina like you wouldn’t believe.

Before I surrendered my entire life to God, I consumed hours of workouts, semi-starvation, along with my inside voice telling me I’d never be good enough. It wasn’t until the year 2020 after finding out my marriage was in ruins, that God removed all self sabotage from my life. I promise you, you cannot lift weights and run miles and ugly cry at the same time, trust me, I desperately tried.

God closed the door that I thought served me, and opened a whole new world for me to step into. Instead of my Nike’s pounding the pavement followed by hour long Hiit routines, with heavy strength training as the grand finale, God introduced me to a new norm, the norm of slowing down.

Walking with God throughout the woods embracing His breathtaking landscape with only the chirp of birds along with the whispering sway of trees became harmony to my heart. I thought God took everything from me, but instead while he walked alongside me patiently listening to my angsts from a beaten and broken heart, he breathed life upon my dry bones; restoring me, returning me, redeeming me, and making me brand new.

Now, I honor God with any activity I partake in. Thanking him for the ability to move my body in whichever way I choose. I don’t have to be a rockstar for others or for my own good. God’s love and grace is what drives me, because what I thought was love for myself, wasn’t at all. In order to fully love myself, I had to first love my Father.

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

Philippians 6:19-20

You CAN do ALL things through Christ who gives you STRENGTH.

This doesn’t mean you can do life by your own will, that you will be able to move the mountain on your own, heal on your own, grieve on your own, change on your own. Philippians 4:13 is saying, we can ENDURE whatever life throws our way, no matter the outcome. It is the supernatural strentgth God provides to sustain and persevere.

As we age, physical strength is a must, Ladies. Weight training helps with balance while keeping our bones strong. No matter how good your shell looks, what’s underneath is what matters the most. Our bodies never stop aging, it is solely up to us to maintain for longevity.

Luke 1:37

Butts, they are a big deal!

The gluteus maximus aka, butt, booty derrière, tush, rump, is the largest muscle in the human body. It is large and powerful because it has the job of keeping the trunk of the body in an erect posture. It is the chief antigravity muscle that aids in walking up the stairs. So let’s build up those glutes so they can continue working in our favor.

Hydration can calm the complications and is one of the best things you can do for not only your body, but your brain function as well. From the time we awake in the morning we are considered actively dehydrated. Starting the day with a full glass of water can help you think clearly before that first cup of coffee.

Rest in the Name of Jesus

Then Jesus said, “Come to me all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30

THE STRETCH MATTERS

Stretching is more important than the actual workout itself. It not only loosens tight muscles but it also eases all the stress we carry throughout our bodies. Stretching is the epitome of self-care reducing the risk of injury, eliminates lactic acid build up, and a whole lot more. Click below for more!
